The speedometer cable type sensor is run down the fork column in place of the original speedometer cable and receives its signal from the SIP speedometer / Rev counter drive gear, located in the front axle. The waterproof cable is connected to the speedo in the headset. 
 
The advantages of the new system include a more accurate measurement of your actual speed and a firm goodbye to constantly snapping speedometer cables. 
 
This is an excellent complemetntary accessory for the already highly praised SIP Speedometer / Rev counter unit.
